Healthy Birth of Rochester

Healthy Birth of Rochester offers services and information to assist women in having more positive, healthier birth experiences. Healthy Pregnancy/Birth planning classes help teach women how to stay healthy and low risk during pregnancy, labor, and birth. Full childbirth education classes in the Bradley Method® of Natural Childbirth, taught by a certified childbirth educator, are available for those who desire a natural birth and a thoroughly trained partner.

Bradley® classes are unique..because they:

  • Are the only childbirth classes statistically proven to reduce the chances of interventions or cesareans.
  • Empower a woman so she can enjoy birth as a natural event with a minimum of intervention. This is accomplished by teaching the physical, psychological and emotional aspects of birth.
  • Foster a couple’s confidence by providing comprehensive preparation for any birth setting (hospital, birth, or home), and in any situation (including complications or cesarean section).
  • Help define, teach and support the role of a birth partner during pregnancy, birth, and beyond.
  • Focus on opening and enhancing communication with the partner as well as with the professional birth team.
  • Provide consumer oriented training, allowing participants to make truly informed decisions in a variety of situations.
  • Emphasize staying healthy and low risk throughout pregnancy and postpartum.

Topics covered in Bradley® Childbirth classes include:

Background and principles of true natural childbirth, pregnancy nutrition, exercises, relaxation, positive communications, birth process review, consumer issues, coach’s role, natural labor techniques, breastfeeding, preparation for unexpected outcomes, birth plans, postpartum adjustment, and the newborn. Information on other pertinent topics is supplied upon request. If your Bradley teacher cannot help you, then you will be referred to other professionals in the area who can.

Your local Bradley instructor is a professional trained to help pregnant couples obtain the birth experience they desire. Each instructor has gone through intensive training and is required to re-affiliate each year.

To sign up for a class you must contact each individual teacher, let them know that you wish to join, and then send in the $50 deposit to reserve your place in the class.  Please include the following information: names of all parties attending the class, address, phone #, e-mail, and an approximate due date.

The course cost is $300 , which includes the $50 deposit, required to reserve a spot in class. The remaining fee is due at the first class, unless other arrangements have been made. (please note: different teachers may charge different prices, so be sure to contact the individual teacher)

I usually recommend that people borrow Natural Childbirth The Bradley Way from the library to help them in making the decision as to whether these classes are right for them and their families.  I would be delighted to speak with you and answer any questions you may have, or help you find a teacher.  Please feel free to give me a call at 585- 425-7105.

If the dates and times of one class do not meet your need then you may be referred to another area teacher.

Check out the Class schedule page for more information! Please contact each individual teacher if you have questions..
